Marchesini Group Larger Scale, Fully Automated Blister Line

Our Bromborough site runs the new fully automated Marchesini blister packing line along with our existing fully automated five Noack Blister Lines – this makes our 6 blister line production suites one of the most capable contract blister packing facilities in the UK.

The Marchesini line handles the complete process end-to-end, from forming, filling and sealing blisters to filling cartons, shrink-banding into collations and packing directly into shippers.

Komori 6-Colour G40 Advance Carton Printing Press

The Komori 6-Colour G40 Advance has arrived at our Deeside print site, bringing with it a significant increase in carton printing capacity.

This larger-scale press allows us to produce volumes faster while maintaining the quality and compliance standards required for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical packaging.

Every carton is still fully PS9000 compliant, manufactured in-house, and backed by our own artwork and origination team.

H&H KL112 Speciality Pharmaceutical Leaflet Folder

Also at Deeside, the H&H KL112 has landed.

This machine is a bespoke, high-specification pharmaceutical leaflet folder that brings a new level of capability to our print facility.

The H&H KL112 has been custom-built for the demands of pharmaceutical leaflet production:

• Integrated Baumer hhs gluing system
• Leaflet tabbing capability
• Precision crease function
• Multiple folding configurations

We’re pleased to share an update on the latest investment at our Deeside site – the arrival of our new Komori 6-Colour G40 Advance Carton Printing Press.

Over recent weeks, one of our existing carton printing presses was carefully dismantled, following detailed planning and close customer liaison, to make way for this next-generation equipment.

The first stages of building and installation are now underway, marking an exciting milestone in our ongoing investment programme.

Once fully operational, the new Komori press will significantly enhance our capacity, print quality and flexibility, strengthening our ability to support pharmaceutical, healthcare and nutraceutical customers with high-quality, compliant printed packaging.

We’re proud to share that Chester Medical has achieved EcoVadis Bronze accreditation for the third year running.

This continued recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable business practices across the organisation.

EcoVadis assessments independently evaluate performance across key areas including environmental management, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement.

Our score now places us in the top 35% of all companies assessed, up from the top 50% in the previous two years.

We remain focused on reducing our environmental impact, with a target to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by at least 21% by 2028. 

Furthermore, we have implemented an Environmental Management System, and are working with our customers and suppliers to drive this change.

We are proud to announce that Chester Medical has successfully retained its ISO 14001 accreditation across both sites, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to environmental management and sustainable operations.

ISO 14001 recognises our ability to identify and manage environmental impacts, reduce waste and continually improve our performance in line with global best practice.

Retaining this accreditation reflects the dedication of our teams in embedding environmental best practice throughout our operations, from printed packaging to packing and assembly.

Chester Medical has invested over £2 million in a brand new, larger-scale, fully
automated blister packing line.

Following many weeks that included a factory acceptance test, shipment
from Italy, removal of old equipment, offloading, installation, and a series of
qualification trials, the new equipment is now operational at our Bromborough
site.

Our state-of-the-art blister packing line, combined with our five Noack
623 Blister Lines, has allowed us to significantly increase our overall blister
packing capacity, ensuring that we can meet the growing demands of the
pharmaceutical industry.

Chester Medical is proud to retain its Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
certification by the Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency
(MHRA).

GMP is the expected standard that a medicines manufacturer must meet in their
production processes.

Some products require leaflets to be considerably larger than average.

This is often due to the need to contain multiple languages, combined patient and prescriber leaflets, or technical drawings and diagrams.

Leaflet tabbing is one of the many leaflet finishing capabilities available at our Deeside site.

It provides the ideal solution to size constraints.

Thanks to its compact fold size, our tabbed leaflet process makes the best use of the available space in a carton.

The label ensures that the leaflet is securely folded, preventing it from springing open.

Our leaflet tabbing solutions offer the following advantages:

• User convenience: Tabbing allows users to easily fold and unfold the leaflet

• Environmentally-friendly: Tabbing can help reduce the amount of excess space, meaning less carton material is required

• Tamper evident: The securely folded label helps identify if there is any tampering of the product

(BRCGS) for Food Safety, we are proud to have been issued certification first

Our facilities are using 100% renewable energy, and our vehicle fleet is either electric or hybrid.
